Antioch Genesis Program: Imparting a vision, uplifting a community, raising the standard.

Antioch Genesis Program is a faith-based, job readiness and placement program with a successful track record in providing employability, personal development, and life skills training to individuals with multiple barriers to employment. Upon completion of training, participants are assisted with job placement and retention.

Genesis provides the following services:

• Employability and personal development training
• Job placement
• Job retention and advancement

Since its inception in 2001, over 500 students have completed the training requirements through the Genesis program; over 300 have secured employment to-date.

Genesis Graduates have worked at the following companies in the past year: Network Parking, Applewood Centers, Giant Eagle, American Red Cross, Eliza Jennings, Ritz Carlton, Marc's Pharmacy, Quizno's, Account Temps, Adecco, Target, Business Consultants, Reserves Network, Dave's Supermarket, Securitas, Hyatt Regency, Turn Around Group, Fox 8, Northeast Ohio Health Services, Wal-Mart, Arby's, Marriott Hotel, Keybank, New Directions, Help Foundation, Rite Aide, Progressive Insurance, Fox International, Federal Express, LNE & Associates, Murrays, St. Augustine Manor, McDonald's, Corporate Collections, MetroHealth, Harbor Lights.

The Genesis Program needs the support of concerned citizens, corporate partners and community agencies to truly make a difference in our community. With your support we can positively impact the reality that we are living in one of the poorest cities in our nation. By providing training and job opportunities, we can reduce the number of individuals at or below the poverty level. LaQuetta Lovelace - Cycle 74

The only place that I felt accepted and supported was at the Antioch Genesis Program. The staff there seemed to value me as a person. I could share my dreams and goals and they would try to help me to do some of the things that I wanted to do before I was incarcerated. They nurtured my self-worth.  Some days I would walk more than 7 miles to get to the program because I knew that when I arrived, there would be people there who were glad to see me and work with me to help me accomplish my goals.

The Genesis Program has encouraged me to believe in myself and to understand that I have a purpose. The training was second to none. The staff helped me to acquire important documents, enhance my interviewing skills, and identify my life skills.

The greatest asset of the program is it’s God-centered. It’s about the whole person—not just getting a job.

Keith Stewart, Cycle - 78

I came to Antioch Genesis Program as a “walk in” looking for help with employment and education and spoke to Ms. Deborah Robinson. She explained the program to me. So I listened and decided to give it a shot.  Within days, she helped me to get enrolled. So, I started with Ms. Oates. She helped me gather up my work experience and skills together and to express those skills by writing or speaking, filling out job applications completely, and getting through interviews.

 At this point I was ready to work anywhere; so, I did my cold calling, going out to places to pick up applications, looking in the newspapers or on the internet—everywhere for employment. I kept my search simple but stayed to it everyday.

I found employment and decided to further my education. So, I signed up for GED classes. Now I go to class in the morning and work at night. So I believe that with hard work and dedication, a person can achieve anything with help from God.

The Genesis Program has impacted my life because I recently came home from being incarcerated. It’s a great feeling to know that there are faith-based programs around to help me grow and walk by faith and prayer while assisting me with my job readiness skills. The program was very enlightening. I continue to know we can do all things possible through God and His works. The instructors were wonderful!
